When we bought the house one of the open inspection items was a missing railing/fence piece on our deck (safety issue). Jim built a section and installed it.
Yellow jackets have been a real problem this year. Jim has 3 yellow jacket traps hanging around the house. The yellow jackets built a couple of nests in the gutters which Jim had to spray.
We've done a couple of marathon preserving sessions. We've frozen bell pepper strips, froze some and canned some roasted tomato sauce, froze roasted carrots, and made a batch of apple butter. It's a lot of work being domestic!
We went to the Labor Day Tumbleweed Music festival this year. We used to go regularly as there was good folk music. We only stayed a short while this year as we didn't hear any music that we liked.
Fishing season has started. We have had some ups and downs but have caught 4 nice fish. Unfortunately, the number of salmon over the last dam before the salmon get to us is below the required
"escapement" number. Therefore, in the middle of the second week of fishing, the Department of Fish and Wildlife instituted an Emergency Rule where we can only keep hatchery fish that have a clipped adipose fin. In all the years that we've been fishing, we have only caught a few clipped fish. We are doubtful that we will catch many "keepers" so will be doing catch and release. We will continue to fish as we enjoy our time together on the river.
The speed control on the new trolling motor didn't work very well so we cut the first week of fishing short and came home so that Jim could put in another one. He had to make a mount for the new speed control as it was made for a different motor.
Bo seems to be doing well.
