Living
with Jim and Gayle
March, 2024
Bo had a 4 minute seizure this month.
We had his bloodwork done to see what his phenobarbital level
was. It was at the low end of the therapeutic level. We
have let him get fat this winter (he has gained almost 2 pounds, which
in an 8 pound dog is a LOT). Since the phenobarbital dosage is
weight based, we have put him on a diet which in turn should raise the
level of phenobarbital in his system without increasing the dosage.
We continue to work on the house. I do a lot of paint touch up
and clean up, following behind Jim as he works on his various projects.
Jim installed an outdoor utility sink. I was tired of us walking
through the house to the kitchen with dirty hands and dirty feet.
Jim accidently knocked a small hole in the ceiling just outside the
backdoor. When he went to repair it, he found that the sheetrock
was damp. He assumed that is was just leftover dampness from
before the A/C was reinstalled so he removed the insulation and patched
the hole. Just before I was going to paint, we had a fortuitous
rainstorm that showed that the dampness was from a current leak--rain
was dripping through. The A/C re-installation has left a leak in
the roof. We are currently working with the company to get it
fixed.
Next season, Jim is going to build a bigger shed in the backyard.
There was a tree where the shed will go. Since all of its foliage
was still mostly pruned off, I decided now would be a good time to take
it out.
I finally had to buy a new computer. I really, really didn't want
to but too many of the programs I use have been upgraded and no longer
would run on my old computer. Jim spent several days getting the
new one set up for me. It's okay but I really hate the mouse
buttons that are integrated into the touch pad rather than being
separate buttons.
My friend Libby and I went to a qualifying day at the big BNP Paribus
Open Tennis Tournament. Tickets are really expensive but the
first two days when just unknowns are playing, the tickets only cost
$10. We enjoyed watching two women's matches.
We enjoyed going to the horse jumping when Lynne and Michael were
here. We told our friends, Libby and Mike, about it and they
wanted to go. Another enjoyable afternoon.
I joined an online Easter rock painting retreat. Of the 30 rocks
presented during the three days, I painted 5.
