Living

with Jim and Gayle

October, 2023

September and October we fished for Chinook salmon on the Columbia River.  We enjoyed it, as always.

Last fish of the season (we didn't keep my last fish as it was a big native male that was good to leave in the gene pool).

Across the river from where we fish, the army has a training center where soldiers from Ft. Lewis train.  During one of their training sessions, an Apache helicopter tangled with high voltage power lines that span the Columbia River and made a "hard landing" in a remote area.  After removing the blades from the main and tail rotors and weapons, a Chinook helicopter carried it to the airport in Desert Aire where we camp.  It was something to see the Apache helicopter hanging below the huge Chinook helicopter.  Once the helicopter was accessible, it was loaded onto a flatbed truck and taken back to Ft. Lewis.

The seating in the trailer was really uncomfortable.  Jim bought some car bucket seats to sit on top of the dinette seating platform.  They are much more comfortable to sit in.

When our travel trailer isn't parked in the sideyard, the sideyard where the boat lives when we're not fishing, is quite open.  This has always bothered me.  Jim put up a fence and gate to close this area off.

Due to winter storm forecasts all along our route south, we left early.  We still hit a day of high winds that held us up.  Instead of taking us 3 days it took us 5 days.  We stayed at the Indio Elks until we could get into the house.

Bo still doesn't like his car seat but he is getting used to it.
