Living
with Jim and Gayle
June, 2026
The big news for the month is we bought a
new truck. It's a 2026 Chevy Colorado Z71 Pickup. That's
the same model truck as we had. We liked the old truck so
replaced it with a newer version.

My garden is doing well. I have already harvested a lot of leaf
lettuce and a couple of cucumbers.

The day lilies on the side of our front yard are putting on their
annual gorgeous show of yellow.

Since we moved in, a strange plant has tried to grow just outside of my
garden. I've always pulled it up as a weed but it still would
come back. This year I let it grow. It is a lily,
identified as poisonous to animals. I let it grow until it
bloomed this year and then pulled it up.

Our big birch in the front yard is dying. Two arborists have told
us it won't survive the summer. But, we're not ready to give up
on it. I replaced the rocks at the base of it with bark mulch
which will be cooler. We are putting "It Ain't Dead Yet" minerals
on it. We will probably lose it, but it is worth trying.

Bo has found a mouse, a toad and a snake in the yard. Jim has had
to rescue them.

I am spending a lot of time selling the yarn that I acquired from my
friend's estate. In the boxes, I found the unfinished "Henriette,
the Emotional Support Chicken" that I had helped pick colors and eyes
for. All that needed done was sewing the pieces together and
stuffing it. It is a great memory to have.

Bo got his summer haircut.

Jim's hand is healed. The little finger still is curled but a lot
less than it was before the surgery. He can now put on a work
glove.

I still have aching calf muscles and get
winded easily. My leg vascular test was normal. So, for
now, I guess I'm just working with a new "normal".
Bo has not had a seizure this month that we know of.
