Living

with Jim and Gayle

February, 2024

This month continued to be about doing projects at the California house.

Jim finished the major paver project.  The driveway and patio were surrounded by dirt.  Bo insisted in walking in it, it was hard to get the garbage cans in and out of the back yard, and it looked bad.  As part of the project, he installed two drains for future gutter downspouts.

Jim installed a built in microwave with a surface light and a vent fan, replacing the countertop microwave that sat on a wooden shelf above the stove.

I trimmed the four mulga acacia trees in the yard.

We hired the three sweet acacia trees to be trimmed.  This was expensive and would be more expensive next year.  The trees have horrible long thorns.

We decided, while most of the foliage was gone, to take out the three trees.  I convinced Jim to let me buy a mini chainsaw.  This worked well for cutting down the tree trunks.  It was too small to cut the stumps down to ground level.  After girding the stumps with the chainsaw, I had to use the reciprocating saw.  After leveling one of the stumps and getting half way through a second one, the vibration was too much for my hand so Jim had to finish the project.

We bought a new TV.  The one we had was one that we bought from the previous owner.  It was too small for us to read the TV guide.  We got a 65" TV on Super Bowl sale.

I got together with my fellow February "babies" to celebrate our birthdays.  It was a nice afternoon.  We have been getting together for years to celebrate our birthdays.
