Living

with Jim and Gayle

November, 2023

We're back to the desert -- Palm Springs, California area.

Shortly after we arrived, Jim and I discussed what to do with the money I had inherited from my Mom.  I love wintering in Palm Springs.  Jim doesn't mind.  We thought about buying a house here, using my inheritance as a down payment, but didn't think we would be able to afford one.  I looked on Zillow, and found a house.  It met the criteria we had -- small with a minimum of two bedrooms, no HOA, under $400,000, a fenced yard for Bo, off-street parking, and in good condition.  I clicked the "Contact a Realtor" button.  A realtor called and I set up a showing for the next day.  We loved the house.  The house had only been on the market a couple of days and we were afraid that we would get into a bidding war, something we couldn't afford to do.  However, we made a full value offer and low and behold, it was accepted!  We should close on the house the first week of December.
It is small -- only 855 sqft, two bedrooms, one bathroom.  But we lived almost 20 years in a motorhome and compared to that, this is spacious.  Our realtor calls it a "Unicorn".  She can't believe we found this nice of a house at this price.

We are buying things for the new house and storing them in the garage of the house we're renting.

Jim and I made a full Thanksgiving dinner -- 21 pound turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cornbread dressing.  Our friends, Mike and Libby came to dinner and she brought green bean casserole and apple pie and ice cream.

Bo is doing really well.  He has adjusted to his anti-seizure medicine.  We took him to his vet here in the desert to make sure that this vet is up to speed on Bo's condition.

Bo was really hot when we got here.  He had on his "winter coat".  He gets really stressed when I clip him down so with Jim's help, I just clipped his body, leaving his legs long (the part that takes a lot of time to do).  We really like him in his "pantaloons" but I'm afraid that his soft coat will mat and I'll have to clip his legs.
