Living on the Road

CORONAVIRUS

Our lives continue to be dominated by the coronavirus threat.

We continue to self isolate as much as possible.

Max continues to be quite sick.  The vets here couldn't figure out what is wrong with him so they referred us to an internal medicine specialist in San Diego.  It was a long, hard day for him as he underwent blood draws, anesthesia, enemas, an endoscopy, and a colonoscopy.  They didn't find anything of significance.  The biopsies came back negative.  There was some inflammation in the throat, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and colon.  The diagnosis is Irritable Bowel Syndrome, a catch-all term for digestive tract issues.  They are treating him symptomatically with prednisone, antibiotics, probiotics, appetite stimulants, and Prilosec.  Poor guy -- that's a lot of medication.  He still isn't feeling well and not wanting to eat.

The weather here is HOT.  Most often in the triple digits.  Of course, on one of the hottest days, our lot power receptacle failed.  Luckily, the local Lowes had the part needed and Jim was able to repair it.

Two days in a row, we had a freak wind go through the resort.  The first time, we had just put our large awning in when it hit.  Thank goodness, as otherwise, it would have been ripped off.  The next day, we felt a bit of a blow, but nothing much.  However, it hit the back of the resort, tearing the roof off of a pergola, blowing it down the line of four lots, destroying those pergolas.  What a mess!
Wind damage

About half of the roads in the resort are being repaved.  Fortunately, not our road as it is quite a dirty project.

I resin'd two batches of rocks this month.  The first batch came out nice and shiny.
Good rocks

Unfortunately, I screwed up the two part resin ratio on the second batch.  The resin didn't harden, leaving them sticky.
Bad rocks

I thought they were ruined, but I was able to salvage most of them by carefully wiping off the sticky resin using various chemicals and then repainting some of the bad spots.
