Living on the Road

with Jim and Gayle

January, 2018

We had two busy months, December and January.
We had a great time going to the Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway.  Friend, Karen's, ukelele group was performing and she was able to get a bunch of us half price tickets to see the house and an Elvis impersonator.  The impersonator was really bad, but the house was fun to see, the ukelele group was good, and the opening act was excellent.

There is a really prestigious tennis facility, the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens where all the tennis greats come to play a tournament in February.  They have now opened the facility to once a week nighttime pickleball play.  It was fun to go and "Play where the Pros Play".

We had to replace the awning material on our big patio awning.

Jim hung our large metal art work on our outside wall.

We got rid of the fancy golf cart that was too high for Max to safely jump in and out of.  We bought a used cart that Jim had to do a lot of work on (with Max's help).

One evening, we noticed a really strange cloud formation.  The next day, we learned that is was from the Space X launch.

We had Christmas dinner at the clubhouse.  It was really nice.

I painted some Christmas rocks to give to friends.

For New Year's Eve, we went out to dinner with a group of friends and then to a movie (the first movie that Jim and I have been to in years).

My sister, Lynne, and her husband, Michael, stopped by.  Unfortunately, Jim was sick, so they cut their visit short.  Leaving Jim home, we did have one day of touring, going to La Quinta Inn (once frequented by movie stars), Shields Date Farm, and Sunnyland, the Annenberg estate, which is the estate of a very wealthy couple who wined and dined presidents and other high level dignitaries and movie stars.

I had a group of friends over for an afternoon of pickleball followed by dinner on our lot.

We saw Tony Orlando again this year.  We smiled for two hours.  Good fun.

As Max gets older (he turned 10 this month), his one ear that didn't used to stand up, now stands up a lot of the time.
