Living on the Road

with Jim and Gayle

January, 2007

We hosted the neighborhood New Year's Eve party on our lot this year (pictures by Steve).

We decided to add pavers to the back of our lot to give us some more space.  It turned out to be a pretty big job.
Jim first had to take out a concrete curb at the back of the lot.

Concrete

We hired someone to dig up the sod and haul it away.

Then the area was smoothed out.
Ready

We hired a company to "extrude" curbing.

We had pavers and sand delivered to the lot.

Then Jim put down the pavers (including some in the front).

Then sand was put into the cracks between the pavers.
The last step, sealing the pavers, will be done when both lots are finished.

When Jim's not busy with this task, he's gone golfing with me a couple of times.
As you can see, even if you have a terrible golfing day, the scenery makes the trip to the course worthwhile.

The weather has been cold.  It got below freezing several nights, freezing flowers and bushes.
Hopefully a lot of the vegetation will come back!
